I worked in the music industry in New York City last summer where I was exposed to a tremendous amount of musical talent. Since then, I’ve accumulated over 25,000 songs, which include exclusive live deejay sets, unreleased tracks, and remixes from famous artists like DJ Chachi, Kevin Scott, TRV$DJAM, and Mike Posner.
Anybody can start a music blog, just like anybody with a computer can make a remix (I mean, Garage Band is included on every Mac). My goal was to sift through all the junk and only distribute music worth hearing. The problem with most music sites is that they try to be too innovative. Nothing wrong with that, but many are so concerned with being the first to have a new track posted, even if it’s not worth your ear’s time.
I’m currently a senior Marketing major at Clemson University, but living in Alicante, Spain this spring while earning my Spanish minor. Even though Clemson is in rural up-state South Carolina, I’ve met many people there who have been huge contributors to my interest in music. Three years ago, I walked into a party and heard DJ Chachi’s 2005 Mix. And that’s where this all started.

I’m really excited that Jake’s going to be writing stuff on the blog now. We were roomates at Clemson University last year, and he would always be blasting the most obscure music from his bedroom. As I listened closer (it wasn’t hard, it always shook the walls in the apartment) I realized how good the music actually was.
The year started off with me saying “yo dude u mind putting ur headphones in” and then quickly changed to me saying “YO DUDE plug this sh*t into the living room speakers!!” During parties, he would throw on a Dizzee Rascal, Deadmau5, A-Trak, or Calvin Harris track that no one was familiar with, and everybody would love it (which always resulted in footprints on the granite countertops from girls dancing). Jake truly has a natural ability to introduce people to new sounds that they’re sure to love.
Jake started off the year with an old IBM ThinkPad that suffered from a hard drive crash and a fried video card. It truly was the most worthless piece of sh*t I’ve ever seen. I lent him my Mac while I was at class during the day, and soon enough he had downloaded all the production tools he needed: Abelton Live, Logic7, and every Adobe product ever made.
Jake landed a shiny new MacBook Pro in January, and has thrived ever since. He’s started a blog, created three promo mixes, and is my go-to guy for what’s happening in the electro/house/dance music world.
